Hilda Paredes: Women Make Music

As part of their 40th Anniversary celebrations the Arditti String Quartet is proud to premier a new work by the composer Hilda Paredes. Her third string quartet will be the only large-scale work, which will be premiered in 2014 at the Barbican’s new chamber music hall, Milton Court. This unique event will gather repertoire by composers who have written for the group over the last 40 years and have had a long standing collaboration with this unique UK based quartet.

Hilda Paredes has a very refined craftsmanship when writing for strings as well as a unique individual voice, which combine extended instrumental techniques as well as a very solid sense of musical form. She has a well-established international profile and we have no doubt that this new piece will be an important addition to the quartet repertoire of our time.

The world premier will take place at Milton Court, the new chamber music hall at the Barbican on April 26th 2014, in the anniversary celebrations for the quartet.

The composers programmed are:

11.00 Harvey, Pauset, Carter ,Kurtag, Lachenmann
