IGNITE presents new music commissions and new guitar players at all IGF (International Guitar Foundation) events in 2013/14.

New music will be created especially by some of the country’s foremost composers including Tim Garland, Gabriel Jackson, John Metcalfe and Errollyn Wallen.

Performances and workshops will be given at London Guitar Festival (including London International Guitar Competition www.ligc.org.uk), North East Guitar Festival (The Sage Gateshead), London Guitar Series (Kings Place, Bolivar Hall, RCM, GSMD etc) and Bath Guitar Festival.

Our Young Artist Platform (YAP, classical) and Tomorrow People (TP, popular styles) will ignite the careers of young performers. The programme not only offers performance opportunities on major concert platforms but also includes workshops in composition & improvisation, marketing & PR, recording and web-based distribution & business skills.

Other performers & tutors include Rafael Aguirre, Amanda Cook, Dario Cortese, Graham Anthony Devine, Gabriel Jackson, Tom Kerstens, John Metcalfe, Errollyn Wallen, G Plus Ensemble and Tetra Guitar Quartet.

IGF has been at the forefront of new music for guitar for over 20 years: we have commissioned over 70 new works and premiered 245 by leading music creators from a wide variety of musical backgrounds. We disseminate this work via performances, workshops, recording projects and internet-based distribution. This mixture of approaches is designed to allow us to develop and sustain the widest possible audience. We have strong ties with a wide variety of partners including commercial and non-profit companies, educational institutions, composers, artists and researchers.
