Izo FitzRoy: International Showcase Fund
A Londoner born-and-bred, Izo FitzRoy’s music is influenced by the raw power of blues legends like Janis Joplin, as well as the heartfelt lyricism of soul men such as Bill Withers. Fused with her own gospel roots from years spent singing in, leading and directing gospel choirs, Izo’s live performances are emotive and compelling. Her band includes an arsenal of 4 gospel singers, providing the perfect foil of uplifting harmonies, against a backdrop of tight melodic grooves.
Her music and vocal talents have taken her far and wide – including touring America’s Deep South dive bars and collaborating with the cream of New Orleans jazz and blues musicians including Grammy Award winners Jon Cleary.
Her debut album ‘Skyline’ has received multiple plays across the BBC radio stations, KCRW’s ‘Today’s Top Tune’ award, Radio France (FIP), Mixmag’s Tune of The Month award, 2 syncs on Oprah Winfreys network for ‘Queen Sugar’ and a sync on Japan’s popular reality TV show – ‘Terrace House’.
Izo also has writing credits and commercially released collaborations with a wide range of artists including: Dimitri From Paris, Shawn Lee, Moods, Ambassadeurs, Kraak & Smaak, The Allergies and Flevans.
This award is a huge asset in furthering Izo’s career, giving her the opportunity to meet and work with British and US writers and producers.
Izo FitzRoy said:
I am hugely grateful to PRS Foundation for giving me the opportunity to work with some fantastic songwriters and producers for LA Sync Mission.
