Expand my queer ambient event series into a national tour, working with local venues and collectives to provide spaces for the queer community to connect
o•rbyss is a queer event and mix series focused around ambient and downtempo music based in London, which aims to cultivate spaces for the queer community to connect, unwind, and explore softer modes of togetherness beyond the dance floor – curating monthly sessions, weaving DJ sets with sauna & ice bath sessions, yoga and deep listening events. Each event invites queer DJs to reveal a more introspective side of their sound, offering an alternative to raves. Past guests include I. JORDAN, TAAHLIAH, FAFF, 131bpm, PSL, Kasra V, Jaye Ward, TSUNIMAN and a diverse array of talented queer artists.
With the support of the PRS funding, o•rbyss will embark on a national tour to four cities across England to host queer ambient gatherings with local artists, collectives and venues. The central aim of these events is to create alternative queer spaces outside of the traditional rave or club environment, offering the community time to connect, decompress, and focus on their wellbeing. With queer venues continuing to decline, these events are an important contribution to sustaining and expanding inclusive spaces for queer people.
