Bio: Janine Kempadoo is a senior music and media executive with over 20 years’ experience shaping Black music and culture across the UK industry. She spent two decades at BBC Radio 1Xtra, holding senior roles including Commissioning Executive and Music Lead, leading major projects and contributing to nationally recognised platforms across Hip Hop, R&B, Afrobeats, reggae and dancehall. Janine currently serves as CCO at Silver Music Entertainment and works as an Executive Producer in radio working with talent including Seani B, DJ Edu, Kenny Allstar and Chuckie. She also works on the podcast Blended with Kate Ferdinand, developing commercially strong, audience facing content with public figures and brand partners. Janine is currently building LAYA, which stands for Look After Your Artist. The idea of LAYA came from years of seeing talented artists struggle once visibility increased. It is focused on wellbeing and long music careers, putting proper support around artists and managers so success does not come at a cost. Combining media coaching with preventative structure, LAYA aims to help artists handle pressure, grow steadily and build careers that last.

Concise Description of activity: Launching LAYA as a dedicated brand giving new and established artists clear support around media preparation and wellbeing through coaching and content.
