Jasmin Kent Rodgman: Women Make Music
TRIPTYCH blends contemporary classical, electronics and sound art, performed by a quartet of acclaimed musicians including percussionist Beibei Wang, saxophonist Jonathan Chung, cellist Colin Alexander and violinist Valeria Pozzo.
Joined by the forces that are grime artist MC Lady Lykez and movement from House of Absolute (a Ffion Campbell-Davies and Faye Reader duo), the ensemble lead us through a journey of displacement and discovery.
Blending the composer’s own notion of mixed identity with experimental modes of storytelling, TRIPTYCH explores otherness, memory and human connection, and celebrates the power of the female body and voice.
Jasmin Kent Rodgman is a British Malaysian-Chinese composer and producer whose work focuses on cross-arts collaboration. Merging her classical background with experimental electronics and sound art, she seeks new forms of music-making to tell stories and challenge the status quo.
Further developing a commission from Wilderness Festival 2019, TRIPTYCH is part of CAN Festival 2020, and is commissioned by Chinese Arts Now and presented in partnership with Shoreditch Town Hall
