Formed from the aspirations of two people in 1991 Jazzhouse has grown into a not for profit organisation run by six volunteers with funding support from Arts Council England, Nottinghamshireshire County Council, Gedling Borough Council, the PRS (Performing Rights Society).

Their regular venue at Arnold’s Bonington Theatre provides a convivial atmosphere, a fabulous Steinway piano, good acoustics and a space that works well either using raked seating or cabaret style with tables and chairs.

Working with our consortium partner Lakeside Arts Centre we are proud of the programme of high quality performances in jazz and contemporary music that are regularly run under the umbrella title of “Jazzsteps”.

Their current aims and objectives are:

  • to continue to provide a varied, high quality programme of jazz and contemporary music performances bringing to Nottinghamshireshire the finest musicians to be found in these musical genres
  • to facilitate a jazz education programme in schools and colleges
  • to improve the profile of local musicians in the East Midlands through their association with high profile artists at workshops and concerts around the region.
