Jodie Nicholson: Women Make Music
Recording, promotion & marketing for new EP
After self-releasing her home-spun debut album ‘Golden Hour’ in September 2019, Jodie Nicholson has gone from strength to strength and emerged as one of the North East’s most exciting new artists. With her ‘Women Make Music’ award, Jodie will be building on support from the likes of Jo Whiley (BBC Radio 2), Rianne Kate Thompson (BBC Introducing) and Charlie Ashcroft (Amazing Radio) with an EP featuring four brand-new tracks. The PRSF funding will enable Jodie to work with a producer for the first time, as well as enabling a her to work with a PR team to promote and market the new release.
Jodie’s organic approach to songwriting sees delicate melodies and emotive lyrics sit atop deep-rooted themes of melancholy and longing. Inspired by personal experiences and relationships, her music portrays heartfelt narratives of love, loss and healing.
Her ethereal tracks have already attracted the attention of respected tastemakers including Tom Robinson’s Fresh On The Net, AlexRainBird, NARC. Magazine, Ear To The Ground, York Calling, LeFutureWave, Give It A Spin and Mystic Sons, to name but a few.
With musical influences including Tori Amos, Laura Marling, Daughter, Pink Floyd, Lucy Rose and The Staves, Jodie pairs her melodic and angelic vocals with soft piano or acoustic guitar. She’s not afraid to experiment and build upon each song’s raw foundations of guitar/piano and vocals, really bringing her songs to life through layered harmonies, strings, drums and additional instrumentation.
