Joe Hammill: The Hitmaker Fund

Bio: Joe Hammill is a North East–based songwriter and producer whose work has reached global audiences. One of the first writers to receive a dedicated “Written By” Spotify playlist, his songs have amassed over 100 million Spotify streams. Joe has collaborated with leading UK artists including Robbie Williams, Lucy Spraggan, Ward Thomas, and Jodie Nicholson, as well as rising talents such as Amelia Coburn. Internationally, he co-wrote Belgian artist Alice On The Roof’s Gold-certified, chart-topping debut album, bringing his songwriting to a wide European audience. Further collaborations with Slow Pilot, Francisco, Tessa Dixson, and Sennen Bay reflect his versatility across genres and markets. Comfortable in multiple styles, Joe has written for EDM and alt-pop, toplining for producers such as CARSTN, BUNT, Mushroom People, and ChildsPlay, with releases on Pete Tong’s Deux Trois imprint and the iconic Disco:Wax label. He has also worked alongside acclaimed songwriters including Shelly Poole, Graham Gouldman (10cc), Rebekah Powell, Cheyenne Medders, and Nashville Songwriters Hall of Famer Beth Nielsen Chapman.  Joe’s work often reflects the stories and identity of his hometown Teesside. In recent years his song “Infant Hercules” has been adopted by Middlesbrough football club, with lyrics featured on official Middlesbrough FC shirts and played frequently during home matches.

Description of funded activity: Joe will use the funding to carve out dedicated time and space to create and write, allowing him to focus fully on developing new songs and collaborations. The support will also help fund planned trips to London, Brussels, Paris, and Nashville, where Joe will be working with a diverse range of artists over the next 12 months. These opportunities will enable him to expand his creative network, and refine his craft across multiple genres.
