Joshua Igoe: Early Career Promoter Fund

Bio: Dreamland is a queer led hyperpop/trance/hard dance collective that fosters anything euphoric, from Trance, to Hyperpop, to Nightcore. It’s a community first event, spearheaded by like-minded people who take pop music in the club to its most radical, emotional and hard. Aesthetics for events are inspired by Nintendo games and Japanese RPGS, keeping the ‘loose’ association as seen in early internet nightcore spaces that create this culture, to make dancers feel like they’re in another land.  Over the past year and a half, we’ve run 9 events, established the collective as a label and grown in Leeds, but it’s time to make this into something bigger. Being able to put on queer artists when club spaces around the country are contracting at rapid rates is something we are eternally grateful for, but PRS allows us to take this even further! The bulk of the PRS grant will go to a Leeds/Manchester ‘Tour’ of the second Dreamland Compilation, pulling the best and biggest up-and-comers in the space from Surati, Rahul.MP3 and Danyo, covering everywhere from Brighton, York, London, Edinburgh and more, ensuring the financials can work to make opportunities for these artists that otherwise would not have been viable. While learning how to grow the brand, there will additionally be a third event under the grant to really establish Dreamland as a Manchester Mainstay – More on this to come soon!

Concise Description of activity: A second Compilation with a supporting party to highlight local producers, and a ambitious Manchester Debut for the party
