Karen Nyame-Gyamfi : Early Career Promoter Fund
Concise Project Description : To launch a quarterly residency for my eclectic Afro-Electronic club night, ‘Rhythm,’ at East London’s Night Tales Loft in 2025.
Biog: Karen Nyame KG is a Broadcaster, Artist, DJ & Producer, known for her signature soulful and bass-heavy Afro-Electronic tracks. KG’s unique approach to Dance music has led to remixes and collaborations with artists like Kelela, FS Green & Dave Nunes, PinkPantheress and more. KG has been running her event series, “RHYTHM/Rhythm In The City,” for the past 1-3 years. RHYTHM operates as an Afro-Electronic music label, with the event serving as a vital extension of the platform. This funding will assist in launching a quarterly residency for the eclectic Afro-Electronic club night at East London’s Night Tales Loft this year. The sold-out series aims to elevate its offerings with confirmed events scheduled for March, June, September, and December. To date, KG has successfully organised three sold-out curated RHYTHM events at Night Tales Loft, which accommodates between 350 and 400 attendees. The line-ups have featured an impressive roster of distinguished DJs, including Benji B (BBC Radio 1), Gina Jeanz, Hagan, Tash LC, Ikonika (Hyperdub), Kitty Amor (Defected Records), and Sippin’ T. This initiative focuses on an Afro-Electronic theme, showcasing a diverse range of acts that celebrate the rich spectrum of African dance music. The additional funding will enable KG to creatively programme innovative line-ups, which she believes will invigorate the current nightlife scene in London. Her aim is to bridge the divides of generation, status, and territory between established musicians and emerging talent. RHYTHM serves as an essential space for the thriving underground—providing an inclusive environment that embodies the representation they strive for. The additional resources will improve the digital and physical presence of the RHYTHM brand, allowing for the creation of promotional materials, audience growth, investment in accessibility tools, and a stronger community connection both online and offline.
