Kathleen Frances: Women Make Music

Kathleen Frances Sophomore EP

Kathleen Frances is an artist hailing from Bristol. Her music is introspective and commanding, driven by her wonderfully deep, emotive vocal. Having honed her songwriting skills for a number of years taking inspiration from artists like James Blake and Radiohead she released her debut EP Through the Blue in early 2022. Through the Blue garnered support from BBC radio 1, BBC 6 music and BBC introducing as well as support from Clash magazine, Pitchfork and Our culture. In 2020 she was a finalist for Glastonbury emerging artist competition and since has been touring and performing, notably at Pitchfork Paris, Haldern pop, Maifeld, London and Bristol headline shows at Servant Jazz quarters and St Pancras old church. This summer she is set to perform at Green man festival, Connect festival and Blue dot. She was invited to contribute to Secretly Canadian’s 25th-anniversary celebrations with a cover of Electric Youth and College’s ‘A Real Hero’. She is currently working on her sophomore EP with the help of PRS Women in Music fund. Set to be released later this year it will build and expand on her sound, exploring more rhythm and electronic production. “Everyone who encounters the Bristol songwriter’s music falls under its spell, with her voice – distinctive, refulgent, laced with emotion – unlike any you’ve heard before.” – Clash magazine “Frances’ warm baritone voice enchants the ears, creating a whole soundscape in itself” – Get in Her Ears.
