Kay George: POWER UP Industry Professional
Short Bio: Kay George is the founder and director of Upstream Artists, an artist strategy agency. Inspired by his late grandad, designer of the Grenadian flag, Kay founded the agency to support UK and international independent artists through their next stages of their journey. Kay began as a guitarist in college, performing in front of The Prodigy and at the Hyde Park 2012 Olympic Concert. Later graduating in Music Business, he worked independently in artist relations, events management, and marketing, before joining The Orchard, Sony Music UK, where he contributed to multiple UK Top 100 campaigns for artists including Lojay, NSG, Lethal Bizzle, Pendulum and more. Notable campaigns included Chip’s Snakes & Ladders, which reached #7 on the UK Album Chart with over 8 million streams in week 1, and Orla Gartland’s Debut Album Woman on the Internet, which charted at #10 in the UK, #1 on the UK Indie Chart, and #2 in Ireland. Kay has worked across distribution, label management, and campaign strategy, co-ran an indie record label, and coordinated events with brands including Chivas, DIVA Festival, and BLM UK. He has also been active in D&I initiatives with Raw Material Music, EvaCreate, and Sony’s HUE, CEPA, Global Social Justice Fund, and Whatif Freedom, organising panels with Stonewall and the BRIT School. In 2024, he received the Business Advisor’s Prize for his achievements and commitment to business skill development programme, Launchit and is currently completing an MBA, Masters in Business.
