Kaylee Golding: Early Career Promoter Fund
Concise Description: Deliver a major International Women’s Day event in Birmingham, celebrating women and non-binary DJs with filmed sets, storytelling content, and regional Midlands talent involvement.
Bio: Hot Grl Brunch is a Birmingham-born music and culture platform founded by DJ and broadcaster Kaylee Golding. What began as a grassroots brunch party has grown into a bold, women-led movement celebrating freedom, fun and community through the power of Black music. Created as a space “by the girls, for the girls,” Hot Grl Brunch centres women and non-binary people in an industry where they are often underrepresented. The event blends high-energy DJ sets spanning R&B, hip-hop, dancehall, reggae, afrobeats, amapiano and pop, with interactive games, prizes and shared moments that spark real connection. More than just a party, Hot Grl Brunch is a safe and empowering environment where attendees can let their guard down, make new friends and celebrate themselves unapologetically. Men are welcome, as long as they respect that the space is intentionally centred around women and non-binary joy. Founded in Birmingham, Hot Grl Brunch has built a loyal community and expanded to London, proving its ability to thrive across cities while maintaining its grassroots heart and commitment to representation.
With support from the Early Career Promoter Fund, Kaylee will deliver a flagship Hot Grl Brunch International Women’s Day Special in Birmingham. The project will also include a professionally produced storytelling campaign, spotlighting each DJ’s journey and their reflections on empowerment and representation. By investing in high-quality production and paying creatives fairly across performance, filming and design roles, this project will strengthen the regional talent pipeline while building a sustainable future for women-led grassroots promotion in the Midlands.
