Kinaya Said Ibrahim: POWER UP Industry Professional
Short Bio: Kinaya is a Creative Project Producer and Manager with over five years of experience in the music sector. She specialises in artist development, R&D, and care-led, accessible approaches to supporting emerging talent. Currently at Brighter Sound, Kinaya leads on artist residencies, commissions, and leadership programmes designed to centre underrepresented voices. As part of her role, she’s collaborated with artists and collectives such as Nubya Garcia, I. JORDAN, Mia Koden, Nwando Ebizie, Karen Nyame KG, Wu-Lu, Daytimers and Daudi. She is currently producing the third edition of Here to Remember in partnership with composer Jasmin Kent Rodgman, a project aiming to support artists of the global majority to explore archiving, collective memory and oral history.Her freelance work spans project management, research, and artist support for organisations such as Opera North, where she managed the last ‘Resonance’ residency for global majority musicians. She also played a key role in Manchester Music City’s international showcases, managing delegations and acting as artist liaison and tour manager at WOMEX (2022–2024) and SPOT Festival in Denmark. In 2025, she began managing experimental artist LINTD, whose debut EP DOGTOOTH is set for release via the label Head II. Kinaya also hosts panels and artist conversations, aiming to champion more inclusive and sustainable futures in the music ecosystem, especially in the North of England. Her practice is grounded in experimentation, collaboration, and a commitment to social justice with a hope to re-imagine and re-assess what community means in the music industry.
