Beethoven Plus is an exciting new project devised by Krysia Osostowicz with her duo partner Daniel Tong, arising out of their experience of working together on Beethoven’s ten sonatas for violin and piano.

This will be a Beethoven cycle with an extra dimension: ten composers have each been invited to write a short companion piece to one of Beethoven’s sonatas. These new commissions, heard alongside the original sonatas, will form a dialogue between Beethoven’s time and ours, helping to show how composers think and shedding new light on what Beethoven’s music means to us today.

The entire Beethoven Plus cycle will be performed at Kings Place in London in 2015 and in various other venues and festivals around the UK in the 2015/16 season.  Krysia and Daniel will also take the project into schools, universities and music colleges, encouraging young people to write their own companion pieces to Beethoven’s music, some of which may then be included in future recitals.
