Laine Given: Early Career Promoter Fund
Concise Description: UK Bassment will build bridges between UK Bass sub-genres, support grassroots venues, showcase local talent, foster community, empower underrepresented groups, and revitalise Newcastle’s Bass scene.
Biog: LA!NE (Laine Given) is a passionate music promoter, DJ, and founder of UK BASSMENT, a collective focused on bridging gaps within the UK’s grassroots electronic music scene. Laine’s work connects diverse genres, with a strong bass-driven foundation that ties everything together—whether it’s UK Bass, UKG, Electro, House, Tech House, Trance, Hard House, or Downtempo and Trip Hop. His approach blends genres seamlessly, creating spaces that allow for a dynamic range of sounds while keeping bass at its core. Through UK BASSMENT, Laine is committed to fostering diversity and inclusivity, offering platforms for local and underrepresented talent to thrive. His programming always prioritizes the inclusion of male, female, and LGBTQIA+ artists, helping to create a truly welcoming space for everyone. With his eye for emerging talent and dedication to community, Laine is set to reshape the landscape of Newcastle’s electronic music scene. A key collaborator of the project is Daniel, a talented local graphic designer who brings UK BASSMENT’s visual identity to life. Daniel’s bold, creative work strengthens the collective’s presence and reinforces its ethos of innovation and diversity. Thanks to the PRS Foundation’s Early Career Promoter Fund, Laine is bringing his events to life. The first, the Launch Party, will take place on March 28th, 2025, at The Shooting Gallery. The event will showcase a diverse and exciting lineup of local talent, including Izz Gibson (Goose), Jak Stratford, and LA!NE himself. The second event, a larger celebration set for May 2025, will feature national headliners (TBA) alongside the best of Newcastle’s local acts. Both events aim to amplify diverse talent and solidify UK BASSMENT as a driving force in the UK’s electronic music scene.
