Lancaster Jazz Festival produce an ambitious festival based in the centre of Lancaster every September, presenting a forward focused program of jazz and improvised music. They have their roots firmly in artist development, making spaces, audiences and opportunities for artists to produce their best work and delivering an artists playground that is both pioneering and unique.
Lancaster Jazz Festival support artists year-round, not only making places to play that are accommodating to new and original music but having a company that actively works with and for them, long term. They facilitate new artistic explorations and actively support artists in making the next step in their careers.
‘Evolve’ is the next step in that development, a hybrid creative residency for composers to evolve artistic ideas, through time, space and support, enabling them to produce ambitious innovative work for future performance.
Ahead of their 10th anniversary festival, Evolve will support time and space for 4 new commissions to be performed in 2022.
