Founder and Creative Director, Saffron Records C.I.C

I am the Founder and Creative Director of Saffron Records- a music tech initiative taking an intersectional approach to redressing the gender imbalance in the music tech industry.

Also one of the Founding Directors of Bristol Women in Music (2015- 2019), supported the management of ‘She Said So’s’ Global mentoring program and Lecturer at BIMM University for their ‘Releasing Music Module’.

With over 8 years working in the Creative Industries and supporting the early investment of these additional gender-focused initiatives, it further exemplifies my want for change in the music industry, with a specific focus on gender and race.

Saffron launched initially as a record label in Sept 2015. The company has now gained a reputation for leading the way for womxn to get involved in music production, sound engineering and Djing.

The music tech industry has a staggeringly low percentage of women, with just 5%, of which 2.6% are black womxn working in the industry.

Saffron is therefore working alongside global music tech companies, such as Spitfire Audio, Pioneer DJ, Abbey Road Studios and more to increase that statistic by creating educational opportunities for womxn.

The companies aim is to challenge the current music tech industry landscape and make a future industry that is inclusive and diverse.

“Power Up will amplify my voice to be heard, as the PRS Foundation are well connected to the decision-makers and leaders in these industries.” Laura Lewis-Paul
