Leasowes Bank Arts Festival is situated in a remote rural location at the heart of the beautiful South Shropshire hills and has, since it’s foundation in 1981, programmed a wide range of music of the highest professional standard.  The Festival has presented over 170 concerts with a particular emphasis on contemporary music and has commissioned 48 new works from composers including Michael Nyman, Michael Finnissy, Eleanor Alberga, Diana Burrell, Sally Beamish, Huw Watkins and, on the jazz side, Barbara Thompson, Nikki Iles, Michael Garrick, Clark Tracey, Bob Wilber and Andrea Vicari.  The Performing Right Society’s support goes back to 1984 and the continuing support, now through the PRS for Music Foundation, has enabled Leasowes to sustain and develop its new music policy.  2012 features the Festival Commission by James Francis Brown premiered by the Barbican Piano Trio
