lleo: Women Make Music
You know when you’ve heard a lleo track. It’s bold, bright, and crunchy in production, with an underlying sadness. lleo expertly channels their messy mind with duality – on the surface it’s an upbeat pop track, but at the bones of it all, it’s a journey of polarised emotions.
“I want people to feel sad and happy when they hear my music. I want them to understand the layers. If they have a head full of layers like I do, then my music will resonate with them.” lleo is delighted to be supported by the PRS Foundation, and will be releasing their debut EP in 2022, discussing mental health struggles, medication, and the turbulent emotions that living with bipolar brings – from the highest highs to the lowest lows.
Elton John described them as “a truly special artist”, Jack Saunders tipped them as the Next Wave on BBC Radio 1, and their debut show sold out within weeks of being announced – lleo had an amazing 2021. A talented artist, producer, songwriter and self taught musician, with tracks exploring the rawness of disconnection, grappling with mental health, and feeling pretty damn sad, lleo’s honest makes them one of pop music’s most authentic heroes, with real emotion channeled into every crevice.
The grant will be used for release of debut EP
