Lucy	Hackett: Prelude Composer

Lucy Hackett: Prelude Composer

Lucy is a composer, musician, and music producer based on the South Coast of the UK. Her work focuses on instrumental compositions that blend acoustic performance with experimental production and sound design, aiming to create harmony from contrasting elements. Themes in Lucy’s music explore the interplay of nostalgia and abstraction, warmth and coldness, melody and dissonance, crafting sounds that move between uplift and melancholy – a musical space she feels connected to.

Lucy draws inspiration from a wide range of influences, and her exploration of new methods of musical expression has led her to push beyond the traditional expectations of her instruments. This approach is increasingly shaping both her compositions and live performance work.

As a media composer and collaborator, Lucy’s music has been played and published worldwide (Vogue, Oreo, Netflix, PHMG). Her Nocturne ‘The Moth’ was also selected for a printed anthology of piano works by women composers, which was recently performed at the London Piano Festival. Passionate about interdisciplinary arts, Lucy has a particular interest in the intersection of music and visual arts, especially in animation, where she feels the boundless imagination mirrors the expressive potential of music.
