Makeda Krish: POWER UP Industry Professional

Short Bio: Makeda is an Audio Producer, Event Producer, Broadcaster and DJ based in London. Makeda brings a thoughtful, creative, artist-first approach to every show she works on. She is particularly interested in and dedicated to celebrating and focusing on the stories and voices of those who have been traditionally marginalised, with particular focus on black and brown artists. Makeda’s expertise in making specialist music shows is exemplified through her work across some of BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio 6Music’s leading radio shows, including Gilles Peterson, New Music Fix with Mary Anne Hobbs, J to Z, The Jazz Show with Jamie Cullum, and J to Z. Makeda grew up around the London jazz community, and takes deep joy in being able to share the music of her peers, and talent artists from the UK and around the world in her current position as Producer for BBC Radio 3’s flagship weeknight jazz show ‘Round Midnight, which she works as part of her full time role with award-winning production company Folded Wing. Makeda joined the team ahead of ‘Round Midnight’s launch in April 2024. As a radio broadcaster, DJ, Makeda offers an expansive listening. She hosts regular shows on The BoAt Pod and Netil Radio, where she explores music from across the globe. She’s also made guest appearances on Foundation FM, Soho Radio, and Jazz FM.
