Manpreet Bhambhra: Early Career Promoter Fund
Concise Description: More than just a party, roots and culture is a movement. A space where music lovers, ravers and selectors unite to celebrate unfiltered creativity.
Bio: Roots and Culture are dedicated to amplifying South Asian underground sounds and pushing them into the heart of the UK live scene. There work focuses on uplifting emerging DJs, producers, and performers whose creativity is reshaping contemporary club culture. With a strong commitment to fair pay, inclusive programming, and community-led growth, they curate events that champion underrepresented voices—particularly women and artists from marginalised backgrounds. Active across the West Midlands, they is building a vibrant network of artists, venues, and audiences while carving out space for South Asian talent to thrive on bigger stages.
They are using this funding to develop a dynamic programme of events that elevate South Asian underground music and introduce it to wider audiences across the Midlands. The project centres on creating professional opportunities for emerging artists, building diverse and exciting line-ups, and showcasing fresh sounds such as Punjabi Jungle. By expanding from small grassroots nights into larger, more ambitious events, they will strengthen their skills while opening doors for artists who have long lacked visibility. The activity will deepen partnerships with venues and festivals, energise local nightlife, and help build a more inclusive talent pipeline—one that reflects the real diversity and creativity of the scene.
