Marvin Mateeka: POWER UP Industry Professional
Bio: Marvin Mateeka is an Ugandan-born, Glasgow-based DJ, curator, promoter and label founder working across electronic, club and experimental music. As the founder of KIN-TU, he has built a platform supporting emerging and underrepresented artists through releases, events, radio and artist development, with a focus on creating meaningful opportunities and long-term support within Scotland’s music scene. Alongside his work as Maveen and DJ $YCLOPS, Marvin’s practice connects nightlife, listening culture and community centred music programming. He is known for championing forward thinking artists, developing ambitious grassroots projects, and creating spaces where club music can sit alongside experimentation, collaboration and cultural exchange. Through KIN-TU, Marvin has delivered releases, artist focused events and public programmes that aim to strengthen local infrastructure while opening up wider opportunities for artists working across contemporary music. His work is rooted in building sustainable pathways for talent that is often overlooked by traditional music industry structures. As a POWER UP Year 6 Participant, Marvin will use this support to strengthen KIN-TU’s foundations, expand its reach, and invest in the long-term development of the artists, projects and communities he works with. Nothing can grow without the right foundations, and this support will help create the structure, stability and momentum needed for the next stage of that journey.
