Bio: A Drum and Bass night in a seaside cultural hub.One lucky recipient of the PRS Foundation Early Career Funding is Matthew Comiskey. This promoter has been organising drum and bass / jungle events in his hometown of Margate for four years, growing a crowd organically with a strong focus on local, grassroots artists. He believes in retaining the underground vibe of the clubbing scene, delivering an authentic raving experience that has an emphasis on sound system culture and a mixture of new and old music influences drawn from a scene he has loved for over 30 years. Matthew’s funding will support two gigs on the south coast at a long standing community space established for emerging talent to experiment, learn, and create. His brand, Sub Hugga, will open its arms to a talent pool of diverse individuals and will continue to give a platform to artists who follow their own path. Some of the acts that he books are from underrepresented backgrounds, including ethnic minority groups, disabled, neuro-divergent, and they all have one thing in common – they know how to light up the dancefloor!
