Meenakshi Malik : Early Career Promoter Fund

Concise Project Description : We plan on hosting 2 club nights with one headliner each and local support over 6 months

Biog :

Global Bass Union is a collective and platform that aims to support and uplift BIPOC DJs, producers, and artists.
It was co-founded by Meenakshi, who felt that there was not enough emphasis on supporting BIPOC DJs in the UK music scene. Global Bass Union envisioned creating a fun and safe space that celebrated the need for having these dedicated club nights in the North and beyond; without compromising on the quality of music or representation.

Global Bass Union are known for championing sonic diversity and creating sustainable support within their local community. Their club nights center around a variety of soundscapes; especially genres that are percussive, fun, and bass-driven. On any given club night; one could expect to hear genres such as: Amapiano, Garage,SWANA Sounds, Jersey Club, South Asian Club, Baile Funk, House, Dubstep, Jungle and more.

The Early Career Promoter Fund will help Global Bass Union to run two of their biggest curations to date; one curation in Leeds and the other in Manchester. The funding will also allow them to host headliners that have made a positive impact when it comes to championing diverse sounds and supporting global majority artists. The financial support will also create more spaces for local talent on both lineups and give them the opportunity to gain valuable experience performing in a club environment.

Global Bass Union challenges the prevailing norms of the electronic music scene, and strives to keep curating with a strong emphasis on more intersectional visibility for BIPOC individuals.
