MishMash Productions: The Open Fund for Music Creators

For:

Chamber Music for 3-7 Year Olds

Music is an intimate art-form which is part of the magic of it.  The audience is witnessing something very personal to the performer.   The trick is to acknowledge this but in doing so not distance the audience.  Harnessing the magic of music in a way that our youngest audiences can access is difficult.

MishMash Productions has built up a range of evidence and ideas about how to present work appropriately to engage a young audience.  With support from Nottingham Lakeside Arts we are now embarking on the development stage that will see a company of 3 musicians from Aurora Orchestra, an actor-performer, the composer Paul Rissman, the Theatre Director Martin Berry, and Creative Producer and Co-Director Liz Muge  devise original, theatrical chamber music for children aged 3 – 7.

This process will culminate in autumn 2015 with performances at Nottingham Lakeside Arts, Kings Place London, The Apex Bury St Edmunds, and St Marys in Ashford prior to a full tour in 2016.

Quote about David Bedford Music Education Award:

‘It is such a privilege to be given the David Bedford Music Education Award.  To receive recognition of this work is so important, particularly at the outset of a new project and fledgling company.  We are very excited to be at the forefront of the development of music for young audiences, devising a really new, imaginative approach to theatrical chamber music for young children and to have this acknowledged by the PRS for Music Foundation gives us such an extra boost’ Liz Muge, MishMash Productions
