Cate Le Bon: Momentum

Cate’s growing presence, musically and artistically, hinge on her multi-disciplined approach to both her live performance and that of her visual output. We will use the Momentum Fund to help fund the music videos that will accompany the forthcoming album campaign and cement the imagery that will surround the overarching aesthetic including online assets, press shots, album artwork and website imagery.

Cate said:

The Momentum funding will allow me to fulfil my vision for the visual aesthetics that will accompany the album and in doing so will give it a unique identity that will help propel the whole album campaign

Cate Le Bon is a keystone, using the weight of her influences to steady a house that is entirely her own making. Whether producing others or at the helm of her own maxi-minimal deconstructionist music, her method remains the same as it ever was: take it apart, find the stone that sings, build it back from the top down.

2018 saw the 2nd release of her weirdo-automatic-folk-ballad-krautrock side project, Drinks, with partner in rhyme Tim Presley (White Fence). This past April, she traveled to Texas to work on a collaboration with Deerhunter’s Bradford Cox during the prestigious Marfa Myths Festival. This musical kinship and mutual admiration for one another led to Cox to ask her to produce their new album. It’s beginning to feel like the Welsh writer’s creative threads are truly coming together. No other musician sounds like this and and no one puts heart into concrete like Cate Le Bon.
