Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes: Momentum
“For the last year,” says Frank Carter in a voice filled with purpose and intent, “I’ve felt like a blade that has been getting blunter and blunter. But I’m sharp again now. I feel like a weapon. I’m going to do a serious amount of damage.” The former Gallows and Pure Love singer is talking about his new band, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, and about the turbulent year that is behind his return to angry, hostile punk rock – and he sounds like a man who is alive again. The last 12 months of Carter’s life have been among the hardest he has faced. Pure Love’s split left him questioning his future in music. He started a family, but suffered loss along the way. He grew up but he grew troubled. He decided he had to get serious; he decided he was done. It turns out that things weren’t that simple.
Now he is back and his return is accompanied by furious guitars, brutal drums and the antagonistic punk of old. “That’s how I feel: angry and aggressive,” he says. “I’ve got a lot I need to say, and I need a fast band to say it.” Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, are now the most exciting live band in the UK.
