Kidsmoke: Momentum
Kidsmoke’s shimmering brand of dreamy indie-pop has seen them make waves from their native North Wales. It’s been a busy 12 months, with a sync-feature on Charlie Brooker’s Netflix series Black Mirror, singles named among Steve Lamacq’s ‘6Music Recommends’ tracks of the year and an invite to play Robert Smith’s Meltdown Festival.
Lance, James, Sophie and Ash are gearing up to release their debut album (due summer 2019). The lead single ‘Rising Sun’ was recorded with Domino Records artist Bill Ryder-Jones. The band has also been busy showcasing overseas with trips to Breakout West (Canada) and SXSW (Austin, Texas), where they were featured among NPR’s highly rated ‘Austin 100’ list.
Sophie (Guitar/Vocals) said:
“The Momentum fund from PRS Foundation is supporting us in the final stages of completing our debut album, helping towards costs of critical elements that in such a big project can be an issue. We have been working tirelessly on this project for a long time, so we’re really pleased to now have the peace of mind that we can make our all-important final decisions (production/artwork/mastering etc) without having to make compromises because of financial constraints.
We feel that we are now in the strongest possible position to make our record sound and look exactly how we want it to and we can’t wait to share it with you all.”
