Kobi Onyame: Momentum

Kobi Onyame is a Glasgow based hip-hop artist who in recent years has come into his own by becoming “the UK hip-hop game’s unintentional preacher of sunny vibes…”. His music is a vibrant spectacle that draws heavily on African culture — both sonically and visually. His sound mashes his Ghanaian heritage with contemporary hip-hop and creates an almost wistful echo of a yearning for home that somehow has its roots in the past and present simultaneously.

PRS Foundation’s Momentum Fund is supporting Kobi by helping to finance the recording of his new album, a follow up to his Scottish Album of the Year shortlisted previous album. The fund will go towards paying for recording and studio costs and the physical release of the new album and allow Kobi the freedom as an independent artist to produce an album of top quality just the way he intends it.
