Lioness: Momentum

Born in 1989, Isabell ‘Lioness’ Fender entered the Grime scene at the tender age of 14. Lighting up the then adolescent Channel U (later, Channel AKA), pirate radio era of Grime with her awe inducing wordplay, wit and fluid style, Lioness quickly becoming a fan favourite.

With Lioness’ 2010 debut and 2011 sophomore mixtapes, Lochness Monster and Roarness respectively, she not only showcased her distinctive lyricism and flow but also became known as the voice of those that often felt voiceless and misrepresented.

Lioness’ first single, the 2017 Jammz produced, Everyting Mad and follow up freestyle, the bold and honest DBT and anthemic DBT Remix, along with performances at Wireless Festival and Winter in Wonderland Indoor Festival, provided further proof if ever needed that Lioness was if nothing else, a true artist with a true and individual voice, that the world needs to hear.

Lioness said:

Sometimes, all it takes is for someone else other than yourself to believe in you. Thank you to the Momentum Music Fund for believing in me and helping towards me becoming the Artist I know I am destined to be.”
