Mic Righteous: Momentum
Having opened for US Hip Hop heavyweights including Wu Tang Clan, The Game, J.Cole, Slaughter House, Talib Kweli & 2 Chainz, Mic Righteous‘ debut EP Open Mic went straight in at No.1 in the UK Hip Hop charts and No.2 in Ireland, Australia and Sweden. With his BBC Fire in the Booth and SBTV Warm Up Sessions being some of the most emotive and passionate to have been recorded, his flow, lyricism and delivery stand him out as one of the most exciting and talked about rappers in the game, leading to him gracing the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge stage in 2013.
Sold out shows, festival performances and features on official remixes for the likes of Ed Sheeran have followed prior to spending the last 12 months finishing his debut album. Whether blessing a record alongside Maverick Sabre for the British Arts Council in honor of Shakespeare or performing spoken word for Vivienne Westwood at her Climate Change March he is equally adept at talking about his own lifestyle and upbringing as he is discussing topics that affect the world on a greater level, making culture, experiences and world issues relatable to the masses.
With downloads in excess of 120,000 across his 3 mixtapes, Yob Culture, Kam-Pain and Wasn’t Thinking and combined YouTube views totalling 20M+, Mic‘s is a voice that is being heard and will grow louder with the release of his debut album.
“As an independent artist it’s great the Momentum Fund have chosen to support my music. Having made the album I’ve wanted to make I’m excited for as many people as possible to hear it. The fund is hugely important as it will aid in this and helps artists to define their own careers, allowing them to carve their own path, proving they can be global artists while remaining independent. We hope we can spread the word about Momentum and encourage other artists to aim for it to the benefit of their careers and artistry. Thank you for the support!” – Mic Righteous
