Short Project Title: In Spite of Fate
Bio: Mount Palomar is the experimental electronic project of Irish producer and composer Neil Kerr, blending electronic production with live instrumentation, contemporary songwriting and influences drawn from alternative, punk and dance music. Since launching the project, he has built a reputation for immersive, high-energy performances, sharing stages with artists including Fat Dog, Maruja, Objekt, Ross from Friends, Pip Blom, while earning repeated support from BBC 6Music, BBC Radio1 and tastemakers across the UK and Ireland. His work pushes beyond the conventions of electronic music, combining intricate production with emotionally driven songwriting and bold live collaboration.
PRS Foundation’s Momentum Fund is supporting the creation of Mount Palomar’s debut album, ‘In Spite of Fate’, a record that brings together leading session musicians from the UK and Ireland, alongside established guest vocalists. The funding enables Neil to dedicate vital time to pre-production, composition and orchestration, while ensuring collaborators are paid fairly throughout the process. It also supports studio recording across Northern Ireland and England, providing the resources needed to realise the project to the highest artistic standard.
Combining intricate electronic production with ambitious live arrangements, ‘In Spite of Fate’ marks the most expansive and collaborative work of Mount Palomar’s career to date. The album represents a significant artistic step forward, expanding the project’s sonic palette, deepening its collaborative approach, and laying the foundation for new releases, live performances and international touring as Mount Palomar continues to establish himself as one of the most distinctive voices emerging from the UK and Irish electronic music scene.
