Between August 2014 and December 2015, Music for Youth will have, for the first time, an Artist in Residence to support its new artistic strategy – promoting the performance and commissioning of new music through its live events. The role will support the development MFY’s artistic approach to its work, and also aims to impact on the performance and commissioning of new music across the wider education sector.

MFY will support the Artist in Residence to deliver a range of new music initiatives that feed into the organisation’s annual season of events for instance, the New Music Stage as part of the MFY National Festival. The Artist in Residence will also be leading the artistic direction of the three Schools Prom concerts presented at the Royal Albert Hall each year, binding the repertoire into a transformational artistic journey for performers and audiences alike. Over the course of the residency, the MFY season will feature performances of the Artist’s own works and new music from collaborative composition projects with advanced young musicians.
