Bio: Myles Noble is a promoter and musician based in Derby running a monthly jam night called the Greenhouse Jam, as well as promoting the Greenhouse Jam Presents series of gigs showcasing local talent. They have created a welcoming and engaged community centered around improvised styles of music and promote projects from the East Midlands. The funding they receive from PRSF will go towards a new event called ‘AFTERBLOOM’, that celebrates the symbiotic relationship between modern UK Jazz and Club/Electronic music. Live acts have been selected for their blend of improvisational styles with electronica, and DJs have been chosen for their Jazz influenced music styles. Altogether, ‘AFTERBLOOM’ will create a new club experience for Derby, giving space to UK Jazz fans to dance, and for regular club goers to explore new styles of music. Derby has a celebrated history of boundary pushing dance music in the 90s and we want to bring this reputation back. ‘AFTERBLOOM’ will also break away from historical disparities in gender for both Jazz and Club DJS by championing artists from marginalised genders and committing to maintaining a safe space for trans people. The PRSF contribution gives the artists, designers, and venue strong support for this initial event in order for it to grow into a biannual tradition. ‘AFTERBLOOM’ can serve as an example of a transparent, well-organised event for grassroots artists from the East Midlands to step up into – and know that they are in good hands.
