NGAIO: POWER UP Industry Professional

Short Bio: As well as a solo artist, Ngaio is founder of Booty Bass, a DJ collective centring female, non-binary, queer, and global majority artists. Since inception the collective has hosted takeovers at Glastonbury, Boomtown, Shambala and We Out Here, and sold out multiple self-promoted nights where the community that attend are the headliners. In 2024, the collective delivered its largest show to date—performing to 5,000 people at NoWhere, Shangri-La. Alongside Booty Bass, Ngaio is an inclusion, diversity, and equality consultant, facilitator, and trainer, specialising in the music and events industries. With clients including Team Love, Boomtown, Shambala, and U-Live, her work focuses on creating systemic change in spaces that have historically marginalised women, queer communities, and people from the global majority. She’s lectured at the University of Leeds, BIMM and DBS as well as speaking publicly at festivals and events championing representation. Through POWER UP, Ngaio will be focussing on sustainable growth for Booty Bass, building a team that can expand their impact whilst staying rooted in equity, representation, and community-driven change.

Activity Description: Establishing Booty Bass as a CIC to empower and uplift underrepresented talent, lead inclusive programming, and grow sustainably through community-focused, Black queer-led events.
