NGAIO: POWER UP Industry Professional
Short Bio:
Ngaio Anyia is the founder of Booty Bass, a DJ collective and cultural platform centring female, non-binary, queer, and global majority artists. Since its inception, Booty Bass has delivered takeovers at Glastonbury, Boomtown, Shambala, and We Out Here, alongside selling out multiple self-promoted club nights where community is placed firmly at the centre.
Alongside her work with Booty Bass, Ngaio is a cultural producer, music supervisor, and inclusion, diversity and equity consultant working across live events, screen, audio, and community-led projects. Her practice spans artist development, curation, facilitation, and systems change, with a focus on creating more equitable structures within the music and cultural industries. She has worked with organisations including Team Love, Boomtown, Shambala, and U-Live, and has lectured at the University of Leeds, BIMM, and DBS, as well as speaking publicly at festivals and industry events.
Through PRS Foundation’s POWER UP, Ngaio is focused on the sustainable growth of Booty Bass — building a values-led team and infrastructure that enables long-term impact while remaining rooted in equity, representation, and community-driven change.
Activity Description: Establishing Booty Bass as a CIC to empower and uplift underrepresented talent, lead inclusive programming, and grow sustainably through community-focused, Black queer-led events.
