Niamh Bramley : Early Career Promoter Fund
About :
Niamh has been assisting with gigs in and around York and Leeds since June last year and has been booking bands, show repping, marketing, admin etc with a local experienced promoter to gain experience. She has promoted a few of her own shows and wants to expand on her own promotions and deepen her knowledge to put on more gigs and develop a particular focus on what she’s most passionate about- acoustic music such as Americana and Irish Folk, which she’s identified as being under served in her region. She is ecstatic to receive funding as it will allow her to introduce more of these shows into the local music scene; using this funding to make bookings with diverse, established touring artists that would otherwise be beyond her reach. Niamh is very passionate about supporting the local music scene and is eager to play her part by using the support slots at these shows as an opportunity to increase diversity and provide opportunities for emerging local/regional acts to develop new audiences, leading to future headline shows. Whilst existing dedicated promoters do exist in her area, they are generally focused on very traditional acts, and their audience tends to be much older. She’s therefore identified artists that are different from each other in both style and stages in their career; and by promoting them collectively Niamh hope’s to expose audiences to other styles and perspectives in folk and Americana.
Project Description :
I want to promote four folk/americana focused shows at four different venues in York. Each show is suited to the venue.
