The Coull Quartet will be presenting a fun and fascinating cross-border collaboration between composers Joe Cutler, Nick Fells and Andy Ingamells that will celebrate sport in the lead up to the Commonwealth Games next year with events in Glasgow, Derry, Manchester and Warwick.

Glasgow-based composer, sound artist and improviser Nick Fells is creating ‘ps[c]yched’, a new work that will amplify, process and mix the sounds of bicycle spokes, chains, gears and brakes to create subtle, shifting textures of sound. Andy Ingamells and Ensemble Lös Caballeros will be repeating their surreal ‘Sport Music: Pétanque’ and devising a new work for the Coull Quartet, while the Quartet and Fusion Table Tennis Club will give further performances of ‘Ping!’, Joe Cutler’s highly successful and popular New Music 20×12 commission. In Derry and Manchester, local composers and community organisations aim to create new work in keeping with the spirit of the programme, and in Glasgow the Drumchapel Table Tennis Club and Glasgow Wheelers will play a prominent role in an event scheduled as part of the West End Festival.
