Nonclassical: The Open Fund for Organisations

nonclassical is a music promoter, record label and events producer presenting the best new classical, experimental and electronic music. Crossing genre and defying convention, we develop, produce and promote innovative music – supporting emerging artists and bringing new music to new audiences.

Nonclassical’s Associate Composers Scheme is set up to support composers looking to take the next step in their career. It provides artists with the opportunity to showcase their music through Nonclassical events and releases, as well as further their professional development through workshops and mentoring.

Open to unsigned and unpublished artists who display exceptional ability and potential, our Associate Composers Scheme is for emerging composers from any musical background and genre who would benefit from the support and development that the scheme offers.

Over the scheme, composers have the opportunity to:
– Receive at least one paid commission for a Nonclassical event premiered live
– Curate their own Nonclassical club night
– Feature on our annual Outside the Lines EP release
– Receive mentorship from a chosen composer/industry professional
– Take part in workshops
– Be part of a wider support network of composers, artists and industry professionals

Previous Associate Composers have since received commissions from Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival (hcmf//), BalletBoyz, LA Philharmonic, London Philharmonic Orchestra and Philharmonia Orchestra; as well as being Royal Philharmonic Society prize winners, received fellowships and residencies at Tanglewood Music Center and Snape Maltings, and been part of the LPO Young Composers Scheme.
