Norrisette: Women Make Music

The Norrisette Songbook

Norrisette is a singer-songwriter, and the alter-ego of composer Anna Appleby.

She lives in Manchester, with two parallel lives in experimental pop and contemporary classical music. She has made everything from DIY laptop electronica to opera to symphony orchestra soundtracks.

“Arguably Manchester’s most distinctive electronic pop artist” – Desmond Bullen, Northern Soul

“gorgeous, threadbare piano and sensual vocals” – Johnny James, Creative Tourist

Her songs are frequently about the natural world, with heartbreak and surrealism along the way. Piano is at the heart of her songwriting, it being her ‘computer’ since the age of 5.
