One Inch Badge: The Open Fund for Organisations

A celebration of the very best of Brighton’s musical underground, Sea Monsters is a diverse selection of artists that isn’t prejudiced to any single genre. Across the previous three editions and 66 artists, Sea Monsters has supported indie, hip-hop, psych, punk, electronica, folk and experimental amongst other genres. What unites Sea Monsters is the quality of the musicianship, the originality of the music and the fact that all artists reside in Brighton.

Sea Monsters 4 “best of Brighton” is the fourth instalment of One Inch Badge’s much loved festival and accompanying record release. Each edition begins with One Inch Badge collaborating with key influential music organisations to curate a shortlist of the most inspiring, original and exciting local artists. Each selected artist is invited to record a track for the album, a document of the unbelievable volume of talent this unique city has to offer.

The release of the compilation culminates in a series of live concerts with the artists performing at the Prince Albert venue in a rich mix of genres, collaboration and sounds. For this edition they have structurally diversified the project with support from the PRS Foundation Open Fund to help financially support more of Brighton’s music industry, not only supporting fantastic music creators but also venues, recording studios and local record stores through this difficult time during Covid-19.

One Inch Badge comment ‘Sea Monsters is a true love-letter to the breadth and diversity of the Brighton scene. We hope you enjoy experiencing it as much as we enjoy making it.’
