Excuse the Mess - A New Music Podcast

excuse the mess is a new music podcast that features some of the most innovative voices in the music world today.

In each episode etm’s host, Ben Corrigan, will be spending a day with a different composer. Like most podcasts, there is a whole lot of ramble-chat. You’ll gain insights into their life, work and minds – hopefully picking up a few useful musical tricks along the way. Each episode will also feature excerpts of the guests music scattered throughout.

There is a second element to excuse the mess, a sort of music challenge. Each guest will co-compose a new piece with Ben following three rules:

1. They only have that day to create the piece.

2. Nothing can be pre-planned.

3. Every sound must come from one instrument brought along by the guest (although, electronic manipulation of the recordings are allowed).

At the end of the podcast you’ll hear the piece in it’s entirety. But along the way, you’ll hear how the piece was created from the ground up – the individual building blocks, the work-shopping of ideas and the discussions that went into making the music. It’s a rare opportunity to discover how these musical minds function.

Happy listening!
