Supporting New Music Performances at The Cumnock Tryst 2017

The Cumnock Tryst is an annual music festival held in the East Ayrshire town where composer/conductor James MacMillan grew up and his early musical experiences there led him to a lifetime in music. He established this festival in 2014, and this year’s festival will take place between 28th September and 1st October. New music plays an important part in this festival, and this year will see three new commissions receiving their world premieres at the festival. The concerts will take place in venues in and around Cumnock.

The Cumnock Tryst is very grateful to PRS for Music Foundation for its support towards the musicians’ fees to allow these performances to happen. The support from PRS for Music Foundation will ensure that The Cumnock Tryst continues to commission and perform new music, and this year there will be world premieres by composers David Maric, Michael Murray and Jay Capperauld, which will be performed by percussionist Colin Currie, guitarist, Sean Shibe and the Scottish Ensemble, Dalmellington Band and the Wallace Collection.
