E17 Jazz at Gnome House

E17 Jazz presents a series of exciting gigs at Gnome House Arts Centre in Walthamstow. The gigs will feature talented local musicians as well as special guests performing in a relaxed jazz club setting. The emphasis is on original music at the cutting-edge of jazz, which transcends stylistic boundaries and draws on a variety of cultural and musical influences. All the musicians involved are composers as well as performers and these gigs provide a platform for the musicians to introduce and experiment with new material.

E17 Jazz is a musicians collective formed in 2008 by saxophonist Carlos Lopez-Real which since then has been active in promoting jazz and new music in the Walthamstow area. The collective has run regular gig nights since it’s inception. In 2012 the collective won the prestigious Love Your Borough Culture award presented by Waltham Forest Council for its contribution in enhancing the cultural life of Walthamstow. The E17 Jazz large ensemble is committed to performing compositions and arrangements by members of the collective and has performed at the Walthamstow Garden Party for the last 2 years. The collective also organized a successful one day festival in 2010.
