Korason – Josh Doughty and Tim Short: The Open Fund for Music Creators
For:
Korason Communion- tour of significant places of worship in Wales
Korason: Communion : Josh Doughty and Tim Tyson Short, met in Mali but are based in Wales.
This project is centred around bringing a Kora and Guitar duo to rural areas of Wales and specifically to ancient and ‘holy’ sites.
Korason play a deep and calming music that is ideally suited to the stillness and reflective atmosphere of churches and places of worship.
The duo will perform at holy sites across Wales from St Davids Cathedral to tiny pilgrim’s chapels such as the Church of the Holycross in Mwnt and St Illtyd’s church the oldest seat of learning in the UK.
Tim and Josh have performed at major festivals, both in the UK and abroad: WOMAD, Shambala, Kaya, Segou (Mali). Josh studied Kora in Mali, under the master Toumani Diabaté. The tour will further establish the duo and also raise both their profile and that of Kora music in the UK as well as directly resulting in new, high quality work.
The duo intend to compose site specific pieces and create video, photography and podcasts.
