A folk music companion piece to the best-selling book, The Lost Words, by celebrated author Robert Macfarlane, and illustrated by Jackie Morris.

Commissioned by Folk by the Oak, the project sees Karine Polwart, Julie Fowlis, Kris Drever, Seckou Keita, Kerry Andrew, Rachel Newton, Beth Porter and Jim Molyneux working together to create a response to the book’s ideas and vision.

Touring to significant venues in February 2019, the show will include live watercolour painting during the set from Jackie Morris, and the London show includes an introduction from Robert. There will be a final performance at Folk by the Oak festival in July 2019.

The music, like the book at its heart, will respond to a moment of crisis and hope about our relations with nature in Britain. It will speak powerfully to audiences of all ages interested in music, literature, education and nature, and will add to the momentum and profile for the huge interest in The Lost Words.
