Green Man Rising: The Open Fund for Organisations

For:

Green Man Rising Competition

Running since 2008, Green Man Rising supports emerging and unsigned artists from across the UK and beyond. Finalists and the ultimate winner are chosen by our selection and judging panels made up of industry experts and key taste-makers. The artists involved are presented with an unrivaled opportunity to reach key individuals within the music industry, including agents, managers, labels, promoters, journalists and bloggers, as well as large and receptive audiences.

Competition winners open Green Man Festival’s main stage and the remaining finalists have the opportunity to join a host of emerging talent on the Green Man Rising stage at the festival. 2015 winners Hunck said: “We’re thrilled to be picked as winners of Green Man Rising 2015. Everyone involved has been so sweet to us. The amount of people that were involved in the festival and competition is amazing, its a great positive thing for emerging bands and gave us the chance to perform our sob-rock in front of our favorite blogs and industry folk.”

GMR exists at a time when the music festival sector is increasingly homogenized and dominated by corporate sponsorship, dictating creative direction. Moreover, a sharp rise in headliner fees is narrowing artistic scope and limiting the exposure of emerging artists to larger audiences and the media. With our entirely non-commercial competition, supported by PRS for Music Foundation, we want to continue helping the next generation of new talent make an impact in this sector.
