New Collaborative Commission - Jennifer John and Stuart McCallum

Immix is a new music ensemble focusing on collaborations with innovative musical voices from across the UK. Drawing on the talents of some of the country’s finest instrumentalists, Immix exists as a vehicle to champion the work of forward-thinking composers, songwriters, bands and electronic artists, and to cast a spotlight on emerging talent, with an emphasis on artists whose work slips between the cracks of style and genre.

Immix is incredibly excited to commission and premiere a new suite of music composed by two of the UK’s finest contemporary musicians, Jennifer John and Stuart McCallum. Jennifer and Stuart are highly regarded in their respective fields: Jennifer is one of the UK’s leading vocalists and choir directors, known for her work as co-founder/director of Sense of Sound, vocalist/songwriter in electro-soul outfit Killerfernandez, and as a freelance vocal coach with clients including ITV’s The Voice. Stuart has built a reputation as a truly unique guitarist and composer, adept at crossing and blurring musical styles both in his own music, and as a member of trailblazing crossover groups such as the Cinematic Orchestra and The Breath. Although Jennifer and Stuart have worked together on other projects, this is the first time that they have had the opportunity compose together in a truly collaborative way. The melding of their respective musical worlds, augmented by the instrumentalists of the ensemble, promises to create something truly unique.
